The City of Owen Sound has initiated a Stormwater Management Master Plan (SWMMP) to develop a long-term plan for the safe and effective management of stormwater runoff.
This project aims to review the entire City’s drainage system (storm sewers, ditches, storm management ponds, overland spill routes, watercourses, etc.) and develop a long-term plan for the safe and effective management of stormwater runoff. The City is evaluating the stormwater management of public lands (road allowances and publicly owned property), not private property drainage issues.
This Stormwater Management Master Plan will steer future projects by identifying deficient areas, recommending improvements, and prioritizing projects so capital reserves can be set aside to complete the work. The SWMMP's findings and recommendations will be incorporated into future projects.
Public Input: Feedback from residents will help to identify localized drainage issues the City may not be aware of. The public can also provide input regarding possible solutions to consider for future stormwater or drainage projects. Public participation will be gathered and documented as part of the final report.
How to Provide Public Input: Use the Map tool below to identify areas (add a pin and brief explanation) where stormwater runoff issues exist (on public property and road allowances). You can also post Ideas or Questions in the appropriate tool below.
Thursday, December 19 . 4:30 - 5:40 p.m. In-person. Public Information Centre meeting will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. prior to the Operations Committee meeting at City Hall.
