FAQs
What is the goal of the Stormwater Managment Master Plan?
This project aims to review the entire City’s drainage system (storm sewers, ditches, storm management ponds, overland spill routes, watercourses, etc.) and develop a long-term plan for the safe and effective management of stormwater runoff. The City is evaluating the stormwater management of public lands (road allowances and publicly owned property), not private property drainage issues.
This Stormwater Management Master Plan will steer future projects by identifying deficient areas, recommending improvements, and prioritizing projects so capital reserves can be set aside to complete the work. The SWMMP's findings and recommendations will be incorporated into future projects.
What constitutes 'flooding' or a stormwater issue?
Flooding constitutes as water reaching a depth of 0.3m or greater or having standing water for greater than 48 hours where it is not a wetland or designated area for water to be absorbed into the ground.
How will this Master Plan steer future projects?
This SWMMP will steer future projects by identifying current deficient areas, recommending improvements, and prioritizing projects so capital reserves can be set aside to complete the work.
Findings and recommendations will be incorporated into future construction projects.
