As part of our commitment to maintaining and enhancing community spaces, the City of Owen Sound will be replacing two of our local playgrounds. We believe that these upgrades will enrich our community and enhance the quality of life for our residents.
Playgrounds are more than just a place for children to play! They are vital components of a community that foster:
Physical Health: Encouraging children to engage in physical activities, thus promoting fitness and healthy development.
Social Skills: Offering a space for children to interact, share, and build friendships, enhancing their communication skills.
Creative Play: Providing diverse equipment and natural elements that stimulate creativity and imagination in children.
Community Building: Creating a gathering place for families, strengthening community ties and engagement.
Together, let's create playgrounds that are not just play spaces, but the heartbeats of our community.
Here's an update on progress as of November 13:
Thank you to those who provided feedback by attending an Open House in person in the Spring, or completing an online survey.
Playground upgrades are underway! Owen Heights Park is seeing great progress, and Comm-R-Ette Park will be getting its new playground in the next week or so.
Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback during community engagement earlier this year — your input helped shape the play spaces in both neighbourhoods.

✨ At Comm-R-Ette Park, playground components are now built and in place, with asphalt and concrete work scheduled for this week. Owen Heights Park isn’t far behind, coming along nicely.

The City of Owen Sound is excited to announce the renewal of neighbourhood playground equipment at both Owen Heights Park and Comme-r-ette Park this year!
As part of our commitment to maintaining and enhancing community spaces, the City of Owen Sound will be replacing two of our local playgrounds. We believe that these upgrades will enrich our community and enhance the quality of life for our residents.
This project aims to enhance the Parks' play experiences by incorporating updated, accessible, and inclusive features designed to serve the needs of the entire neighbourhood.
We are excited to announce that we have entered the design phase and are seeking input in shaping the playground! Your feedback will assist the City in creating a playground that everyone can enjoy. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey; if you would like to complete the survey for each park, please complete it twice, once for each park.
Please check the project page for the in-person Open House at each park (happening May 20th and 22nd) if you'd like to provide in person feedback and chat with City staff.
