Community Open House 2024

Thank you to those who took the time to stop by, ask questions and chat with City and Community Service staff at our first Community Open House!

Discover Your City: Service, Community and Conversation

Date & Time: Thursday, November 7, 2024 | 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Location: Shore Rooms in the Bayshore Community Centre (1900 3rd Avenue East, Owen Sound)

Join us at this in-person event to meet your City Council representatives and staff to discuss city services. Get your questions answered directly by City staff and learn about services offered by the City. Take this chance to better understand how your city operates and access information about the services available to you.

In addition to City staff, local organizations will be on-site to share their involvement in essential services offered in our area. See the full list of participating groups below.

This event is free to attend for all ages and interests. Light refreshments will be available. The Bayshore Community Centre is an accessible building.

Parking:
The Bayshore offers plenty of free parking on both the North and South ends of the building.

Transit:
Owen Sound Transit will be operating regular hours during the night of this event, with the last bus leaving the terminal at 6 p.m. The East Bayshore Route goes right past the Bayshore Community Centre. Please see all transit details, including the real-time tracking Transit app, on the Transit website.

Share I spoke to quite a few folk who make our city work this afternoon. It came up several times that you don’t get much positive feedback from us. I am thinking some allowance for leaving bouquets rather than complaints might be part of the website and emails? I for one am most delighted with our city, so consider yourselves praised! Share Since transit only runs until 6:p.m. and some who (like myself) might wish to attend but work later, how do you propose to accommodate this in future? I might be able to get there by transit if I work until 5;00. But there is no guarantee I could get home again. The transit app only allows me to use three of the routes without a subscription. I believe this is by proximity, but I'm not sure. East Bayshore I have to subscribe, so I cannot even access the info here. Thank you for your question.
We have passed along your issues with the Transit App and will follow up when we have more info (you should be able to see all four Owen Sound Transit routes without subscribing to anything in the app).
We will do our best to set up after-transit hours accommodations or options for future events.
